Hi there, and welcome to Amy's Animal Art!
My name is Amy Ritchie. I am 18 years old and located in Midland, NC. I am a licensed NC taxidermist, and a member of the North Carolina and National Taxidermists Associations. In 2003 I was nationally certified by the NTA. I have been practicing taxidermy for nearly five years, specializing in small mammals and gameheads. I really enjoy competing and I have competed at state, national, and world level competitions. In 2003 I won the National Champion small mammal title the Nationals. You can read more about that on my competition page.
It seems like a lot of people think I'm weird since taxidermy isn't a very common hobby among girls! But what's wrong with that? This world could use more girls who are not afraid to get their hands dirty! I've heard some girls say that they would like to do taxidermy, but just can't stomach the skinning. I'm not affected by that.. I have a stomach of steel!

| Sometimes I get the feeling that if I were a boy, people wouldn't think my interests so
unusual. I am not a feminist by any means, but it seems so many people today are saying "girls can do anything boys can!!"... In that case, why is my hobby such a shock? |
| And then there are those that say that it's the fact that I was home schooled that caused me to become interested in taxidermy. Well, I have to agree with that. If I were in school I probably wouldn't have time to have a hobby. But is that a good thing!? Taxidermy is my passion; it's what I want to do forever, and every one should be have the right to follow their dreams. |

I find taxidermy to be a very interested, rewarding, and profitable business . Nothing makes me feel better than producing a beautiful mount! Over the years I have done many mounts for local, as well as out-of-state, customers. Some of my mounts have even been featured on TV - I once did a mounted mouse that was featured in a Walgreens Christmas commercial! |

job!! We couldn't be happier. Thank you so much. You were a pleasure to work
with. We will definitely keep in
